Foods to Avoid

 No No Foods Whie In Braces

Hard, chey and sticky foods may do damage to your braces by bending wires and loosening the cement under the brackets or bands.

Stay away from hard foods like:

  • popcorn
  • hard cereal orgranola
  • nuts or crunchy peanut butter
  • corn chips or pretzels
  • hard taco shells
  • pizza crust or toasted bagels
  • apples or carrots
  • meats on the bone
  • corn on the cob

Stay away from hard or sticky candy like:

  • taffy, tootsie rolls or caramel
  • starburst, skittles or gummy bears
  • fruit roll ups, licorice or bubble gum
  • milk duds, air heads or jolly ranchers

Stay away from habits like:

  • chewing on pens or pencils in school
  • biting your finger nails
  • tearing open packages with your teeth
  • chewing on ice cubes

More then 6 broken brackets is considered excessive. A $25 fee will be applied for every broken bracket after 6.
